John Morley - Signed Menu

English statesman (1838-1923) and writer, Viscount Morley of Blackbun, secretary of State for India (1905-1910). Lotos Club menu for a dinner on his honor in 1904, signed by him and Nicholas Murray Butler (US educator (1862-1947), Peace Nobel Prize winner 1931), Lyman Abbott (American congregational clergyman (1835-1922)), Chauncey Mitchell Depew (US lawyer and senator (1834-1928)), Israel Zangwill (English zionist and writer (1864-1926)) and Henry van Dyke (US educator, clergyman and writer (1852-1933)). Size is 10 x 14.3 inches, mounted on a slightly larger paper that is 11 x 15.7 inches, small loss of paper over the top left, storage wholes, in overall good condition.

Kogoro Takahira - Signed Menu

Japanese diplomat (1854-1926), and ambassador to the United States 1908-1909. Signed Lotos Club menu for a dinner on his honor, 1908, also signed by Melville E. Stone (American jounalist (1848-1929)), Stephen S. Wise (President of the American Jewish Congress (1874-1949)) and founder of the Federation of US Zionists, Victor Herbert (Irish composer (1859-1924)) and Admiral C.F. Goodrich plus others. Menu is 13 x 19 inches, mounted on hard cardboard to a total size of 20.8 x 14.75 inches, mounting traces around borders, mostly on the cardboard around the menu, minor damage on coners, in overall good condition.
