Massenet, Jules - Autograph Manuscripts (Various Options)

Piece of paper written and signed by the star composer about giving two free seats for the first performance of his opera 'Sapho' at the Opéra-Comique, dated by him in November 1897 (probably for the world premiere held on November 27 that year). Size is 7.1 x 4.6 inches, irregularly cut, in very good condition. A very rare, interesting collectible Item!

Fabulous autograph music quote signed by the composer with few bars from his opera 'Manon', dated in Paris, November 1884. Size is 9.75 x 3.75 inches, trimmed corners, folds, in excellent condition. This is one of the best music quotes from him ever seen!

Autograph note signed in French, sold untranslated, matted with a vintage photo postcard of a portrait of the composer. Total mat size is 8 x 12 inches, note is 3.9 x 2.25 inches (in slightly larger window), photo postcard is 3.2 x 5.1 inches (visible window size), in excellent condition.

Autograph letter in French signed by him, dated March 10, 1899, addressed to a gentleman about an appointment and professional matters. Size is 4.5 x 6.9 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet, soft creases, folds, and some stains, in overall very good condition.

ALSO INCLUDED is his personal card signed by him with a short sentiment.

Fantastic, a really unique piece of memorabilia consisting of a fragment of the wallpaper from the Opera Comique building, after a fire in 1887 destroyed it. Massenet collected a piece of the wallpaper, attached it to a piece of paper, and preserved it. It was part of his estate when he passed away in 1912, a large part of it was kept in his family until it went to auction many years and several generations later, in the 1980s. A New York dealer purchased it, and kept it in his estate and collection until 2015 when we purchased it. Now it can be yours!

Total size is 4.1 x 3.2 inches, is annotated in ink at the top by Massenet himself, who wrote what it is and that this comes from the Opera Comique in Paris, which was a victim of a fire in May 1887. Cut corners, overall age-toning, glue residues on the back, but in very good condition

Autograph music quote with 5 bars from his opera 'Manon' signed by him with a short sentiment, dated in 1909. The whole item is mounted on a larger piece of cardboard for a total size of 5.9 x 5.4 inches, the music quote is on a card of 5.5 x 3.7 inches, with another piece of card handwritten by him.

Autograph note in French (sold untranslated) signed by him and dated 1884. Size is 4.5 x 6.8 inches, 2 written pages in one sheet (front and back), in very good condition.

A very interesting autograph letter in French signed by the composer, dated December 8, 1885, addressed to a friend, sharing some comments about the world premiere of his opera Le Cid one week before (Nov. 30, 1885). Size is 4.3 x 6.9 inches, 3 written pages in one folded sheet, in very good condition.

ALSO INCLUDED is a transcription of the letter, its translation into English, plus an unsigned cabinet photograph of the composer (size is 4.1 x 6.3 inches).

Set of 2 autograph notes in French signed by the composer. One of them is 1 page long (size is 4.4 x 7 inches) and the other is 2 pages long (size is 3.75 x 6 inches), rust stains, both in overall very good condition.
